The power of design intrinsically affects the power of persuasion. Based on this guiding principle, JLD was founded as a multi-disciplinary marketing communications firm in 1998. Based in Brisbane Australia, the company's early capabilities included annual reports, identity and brand development, corporate communications, product development, packaging design, print advertising, visual merchandising, environmental graphics, product brochures, catalogs, film and video. These offerings enhanced the marketing strategies of clients such as Arnott’s Biscuits, Dulux, Griffith University, Heart Foundation Australia, Megabay Lighting, Queensland X-Ray, Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology and UNESCO.

As was common in the late 90s, JLD witnessed an explosion in the digital economy that called for strategic, creative Internet services for rapidly evolving e-business challenges. While continuing to operate successfully as a traditional design company, JLD extended its capabilities to include Web-based initiatives to meet this new market demand. Combining outstanding design with superior Web-based applications, JLD developed a proprietary methodology to design, engineer and deploy fully integrated interactive solutions, corporate Web sites, intranets, extranets, and portals.
By 2000, JLD had become a true interactive design agency. In June 2002, JLD moved into larger premises ininner city Newstead.

Today, JLD offers its clients a multi-dimensional approach to interactive design and brand development, combining traditional branding practices with interactive capabilities to help businesses integrate their traditional and online marketing efforts.
